My good friend Bethany is getting married in Virginia. I will be 38 weeks when that day comes. I am super bummed I will not be going. sighhhhhhh. I put together a small pre wedding celebration for those in Utah who won't make it out East. Here are a few photos. I had fun decorating and I wanted it to be outside but 95 degrees is to hot. It turned out nice. A big thanks to my hub and mums/fam for their help. :)

Yes, it's been a long time since I posted on my dresser and headboard. I have been wanting to wait till the dresser was done but we have been so crazy with summer and work that its still only half way done! So here is the dresser. My husband did a great job and we kind of just played it by ear as we sanded and panted it. The 2007 is the year we were married.

We are in the middle of taking apart our place to prepare for a baby! We just bought a old 1940s dresser that is beautiful ( for our clothes and baby stuff.changing table) and we came across a old door that we will make into a headboard. We already have a turquoise book self/desk in there. We can change the color of the book shelf but its easier not to. We are going for a modern romantic/vintage feel. What color should we refinish the door and dresser?????? Here is what they look like...

So I am not planning on having a crib for the first part of my babies life. I have a small condo right now and I don't plan on putting a crib next to me. I am looking at these products. What have you liked??

1. Pack n Play- This is the more expensive ones but the cuddle rocker looked nice (I would probably buy one that is less expensive) I would prefer something that weighs less, so i could take it camping, on a plane or just to the next room with out much effort. It is also pretty big to fit next to my bed in my small room.

2. Rocker- Small, less expensive, good reviews. Would my kid really sleep in that?

3. Swing- I probably want a swing anyway. This has great reviews. The babe would only sleep in it till they were 4ish months.

4. Bassinet/Cosleeper- Not to expensive but really its only a bassinet?

5. Peapod- These look awesome. Not heavy, kids sleep in it for longer (up to age 6), folds up. But do they really sleep in it? AND I don't think I could stand bending down to the ground to pick the baby up all night.

SO what do you use? I want to get something and I hope to not have the baby sleep with me or in a drawer (which works).

Sorry I have been off the tracks. I thought certain things were going to happen but then they didn't over and over. So now I press on!

Since we took our condo off the market I am trying to come up with better ways to organize my place make the 700 square feet fell like 1000! So any tips that you can give me on organizing a one bedroom condo so I don't feel like a complete crazy head would be great! I will share what I come up with.

And hopefully I will be back to normal... because normal is good right?

Try Something New- Wontons

We love Wontons and Chinese food!
We decided to try making them without spending to much money and eating lots of Chinese food.
It was Delicious.
We had four kinds.
1.plan cream cheese
2.cream cheese with avacado
3.meat
4.meat/cream cheese

My favorite was all of the above. Stephen LOVED the meat.
Delicious... Here is the recipe we used for the meat.

WONTONS

4 Servings

1/2	package	wonton skin
1/2	cup	vegetable oil
1	tablespoon	soy sauce
1/2	cup	ground pork
1	pinch	ground pepper
1	clove	garlic
2	sprigs	cilantro	Optiona

Make sure you don't over stuff the wonton. The skin will get burned before the pork is cooked.

For filling: Mince garlic and cilantro. Mix all ingredients together, except for the wonton skin and vegetable oil.

To make the wonton, put half a teaspoon of the filling in the middle of the skin. Pick up one corner and fold it to the diagonal corner. Pick up the 2 ends that have 45 degrees angle (the ones where the fold is) and wet them with a dab of water on you finger. Pinch the two corners together. You will want to prepare all of your wontons before frying them, so that you are not trying to manage both the hot oil and getting the wontons folded.

Heat up the oil in a frying pan or wok at medium heat. To test when the oil is hot enough, stick a wooden chopstick in the oil. When the oil is ready the bubbles will come up from the chopstick. Fry the wonton until golden brown. Watch the heat carefully. Keep turning them to cook them all the way through. You may want to break open the first couple wontons to make sure that the centers get cooked.

This recipe will make 25 wontons. Serve hot with the sweet and sour sauce below.

Now we are going to try and make my FAVORITE Brazilian dessert- Cuscuz. I have been craving it since we got home from Rio last October.

Here are fun creative ways to dye eggs for Easter or for spring...
These are just SOME of my favorites I have found.
These are easy for all ages and they look a lot better than any thing I dyed when I was young.

1. Tissue Paper Dyed Eggs for Easter

Take your hard boiled egg and moisten the outside. Then apply squares of tissue paper to the wet egg. Take a moistened paper towel and roll the tissue paper side of the egg on the wet paper towel to remove the tissue paper. You can also make fun patterns by cutting out shapes like butterflies or hearts from the tissue paper before applying.

2. Silk Tie Dyed Eggs for Easter

Cut a square out of a silk tie (what a great use for silk ties that your husband no longer likes!) and wrap your egg in the silk tie (closing the silk tightly). Boil the egg in water and vinegar, while the egg is wrapped in the silk tie. When you remove the silk tie, the tie pattern will have transferred to your Easter egg!

3. Pantyhose & Herbs to Dye Eggs for Easter

Take a piece of parsley, cilantro, rosemary, or even a small leaf from a tree or flower outside and place it on the side of your Easter egg. Cover the egg and herb with a piece of pantyhose to hold the herb in place. Now when you dye your egg, it will get a pattern from the herb!

4. Cheesecloth for Dyed Dinosaur Eggs

Cover your hard boiled egg with a square of cheesecloth. Use a paintbrush to paint the egg dye onto the egg wrapped in cheesecloth. Let the egg dry completely before removing the cheesecloth and you will get a beautiful reptile or dinosaur feel to your Easter egg!

5. Sparkley Glitter for Easter Eggs

After dying your egg, you can apply some glue and roll it in glitter. Just make sure that these aren’t the eggs your children will be eating!

When I was young my family would take trips to Rancho Cucamonga, California to visit my Grandparents. One vivid memory I have is playing in their yard with my cousins. They had this beautiful courtyard that went down to a pool. To enter the backyard there was a beautiful gate with a long path with vines up and down it. It was almost like a tunnel to get to the gate. Then there was a courtyard where there was fruit trees and great landscaping. This was one of those courtyards that was made for walking....

You know in Pride and Prejudice when they always ask Elizabeth to take a stroll with them so they could gossip. This was one of those kind of gardens. Not really to do much to do but to walk around in a circle.
I have always wanted a amazing landscape. I don't plan on having all these little pathways but you can make a ugly house look amazing with some beautiful landscape.
I wanted to stay outside in my Grandparents courtyard forever.
I want something like that.
I would prefer to have a big out of the ordinary garden and outdoor living area than a out of the ordinary big house.

I never know exactly what to put on my husband. I see things in magazines and on television and I think that is a great outfit!! But it just doesn't work when my guy tries it on. Here are some pointers for your guys body type for when your shopping for him.

Best Style for Men's Body Type

Short stature
Stiff fabrics, thick knits and baggy pants will add volume, not height, while smooth fabrics that flow and move with you are best. Avoid contrasting colors, as monochromatic ensembles will lengthen, and look for vertical patterns to add some extra inches visually. Fitted or straight-leg bottoms will be much more flattering than full-cut or wide-leg ones.

Big and tall
Avoid loud or bold colors, prints and patterns. Instead, opt for classic shades such as olive, chocolate, navy black and charcoal. Pants with pleats or tapered legs and loose-fitting jackets are generally not the most flattering. Two-button suit jackets and flat-front, straight-leg pants are likely to be more slimming. And finally, finish off the look with a pair of sleek, streamlined shoes, which will help create a slimmer appearance.

Slender frame
For those who want to bulk up, loose, oversized clothing is not the way to do it. Believe it or not, it’s best to opt for fitted, tailored pieces, and play up layering items instead. Argyle patterns and other horizontal designs will help to visually expand your chest, while vertical stripes will work against you. Bold colors have more weight than muted ones, and will help to create a flattering visual illusion. Basic hues can tend to fade away and blend into the background. So don’t be afraid to mix and match contrasting shades, and to wear light looks instead of dark.

Average athletic

Clothing shouldn’t be too short or too long, but rather just right. Full chests and broad shoulders tend to look stocky in double-breasted and shorter zip-up jackets, but will appear more streamlined in a casual blazer. It’s best to wear darker-colored coats over lighter shirts, rather than the reverse. If thicker on the bottom half, draw the eye up with generous lapels on the upper torso. Look for pants that fall at the natural waist or even slightly higher to compliment muscular legs. And invest in a strategically washed pair of medium blue jeans. Denim that’s faded in the center thigh but gradually darkens on the outside edges will balance out your build.

One of my best buds, that I grew up with in New Jersey, Anne has a sister name Jane Maynard. Jane has a great blog that I have been following for a long time called This Week for Dinner. I needed a craft/sewing table but had no room for it in our small condo.
My husband came up with this.

Buy a craft table. Build a wood frame around it. Buy cheap fabric from Ikea.com. Pull fabric tight around frame and staple it. Add some wall hooks. Now you have some fun wall decor and a fun craft table. You can even use the bottom of the table as storage. I keep my cutting board and rulers underneath. If I got really into it, I could staple pockets to hold other craft supplies like tape and scissors.

For my sister in law's wedding I wanted to have a very simple outfit with a pencil skirt and sweater but have fun accessories. All the accessories that where unique and I loved were too expensive. All I had in my house was yarn so I made this. I found two necklaces that I liked online and put them together. I am staining my new jewelry boxes/organizers. Not everyone has a handy man as a husband. So while I wait to post his creations. Here are some DIY projects that don't require a handyman. These are also great gifts ideas.

1. Old Picture Frames

A great way to hang earrings or sunglasses.
Find a great old picture frame.
Remove the glass and stretch lace, wire mesh or rope along the edges.
This is a great place to display your jewelry.
They look good on you why hide it, make it art.

2. Old Tea Cups

This is my favorite jewelry organizer that I have seen.
The problem is you need the space to hold all the cups.
But it is beautiful.

3. Cutlery Boxes

Just like I did with my bookshelf wallpaper and hardware make it a great display

Other ideas:
1. Use ice trays or plastic egg cartons to store small rings or small earrings. I would cover the plastic with fun paper or fabric strips.
2. Candlestick holders to keep bangles and bracelets.
3.For larger items like scarves and ties, consider getting creative with a slat rack, ladder or trellis.
4.Shoe organizers and folding shelves can be used for any of your accessories. (belts, hats, bags, gloves, scarf)
5. Lastly dish dividers and stacking racks can be used to separate handbags.

We are hoping to put our house on the market by the end of this month!
One of the Designed to Sell: Top 35 Selling Secrets from hgtv.com is to have a beautiful working fireplace.
Well luckily we already had that covered. (the beautiful part anyway)
As soon as we moved in we had to get rid of the ugly tile fire place.
Here is the before- after we took out the tile which was the same color as the tile on the ground.

1, "Start it right- Run a quarter-size blob of thickening cream through damp hair. This will give it body and a bit of grab so the elastic won’t slide out. Blow hair dry (and straighten it, if your hair is curly) with a boar-bristle brush. The natural bristles will help make your hair glossy."

3. "Do your part- something a bit softer and more romantic, try a deep side part. Use a comb to create a part an inch or two above your ear. Smooth hair down toward the ears and then back toward the nape with a brush. If you have bangs, push them to the side."

4."Shine on. To dress up your ponytail for evening, rub a dime-size drop of silicone serum between your palms, then run both hands through your hair. Tilt your head back 45 degrees and smooth your hair into place with a brush. Keep the ponytail a bit loose—you don’t want it too severe. Finish by wrapping a strand of hair around the elastic and secure it with a bobby pin"

Can't paint or wallpaper because they won't let you?

This is pretty awesome.
Fabric Wallpaper.
For those of you who know this already, I am sorry I must be behind...
The real exciting news is how easy it is to take off and reuse.
{Note 2: I have not done it YET , but i have only read good things}
Which is why it is great for everyone, especially renters... or even in college apartments.
You can have a stylish decorated apartment with out bland white walls.
Or you can just stay away from wallpaper.
Check this out....
does it look amazing or what?

Step by Step-

1. Buy inexpensive, colorful fabric — enough to cover at least one wall.

2. Wash the fabric first so the color won't transfer/ wash the walls before applying anything

3. Apply liquid starch onto the wall with a paint roller. Note: The starch adheres better if the paint isn't an eggshell finish.

4. Smooth your fabric onto the wall and apply a second coat of liquid starch on top.

5. Let it dry — instant wallpaper.

6. When it's time to move on, dampen the fabric with a sponge and peel it off.

Usually New Year Resolution's are about being healthier...
Well that's mine.
I don't want to lose any weight but I want to feel healthy and strong.
I use to be very active. VERY.
My mood, energy, strength, immune system etc. changes when I don't stay active.
Exercise makes me happy and it is a night and day difference.
(You would think since it is a night and day difference that it would be easy for me to get up and do it but it isn't)
Anyway...
I needed new running shoes. I did some research and talked to some University track stars and decided on this shoe.
However these shoes start at $85.00 at Nike.com
This was out of my price range.
I found a ebay store that carried them for $40.
Go here to search for your size and find a good deal.
You might have to check back for your size or for the price you want.
BUT it is well worth the wait.
I was nervous about buying shoes on ebay but it turned out great just make sure they have good reviews.
You can find a steal of a deal with shoes on ebay.
These shoes are amazing.
Best running shoes you will ever have. I love mine.
They weigh nothing! and they don't look bad either.

Dog Crate Home Made

We made this.... My husband, Stephen made this..... For my parents dog Sigma, for Christmas.
Sigma is blind and likes to be around people always.... so he can hear them.
My dad has a nice home office and has had a ugly plastic dog crate in there.
This will make it look so much nicer.
Stephen is an amazing carpenter.

For Christmas I gave my two year old nephew Benjamin a book about farm animals. I made finger puppets to go along with the story.
He loves farm animals but the little people farm toys at Walmart were over 40 dollars.

Hope you had a great holiday!
I sure did and I wish it was longer.
The chaos is over and things are almost back to normal.
Here is my parents Christmas gift.
We had to figure out how to wrap it!
With big gifts, you really need a big bow.
Kind of like the car commercials with the big red bow on it!
Well the pretty big red bows that I found in my price range were not pretty.
So I decided not to spend any money and just make one.
It turned out pretty and unique... especially with out spending money.

Here is a stack of tissue paper folded and pinched in the middle.
Round the ends

Pull each tissue paper out one out of time.
I think it would look even better one color without print!
And I just used some of the tissue paper I had in the closet.
If the gift is smaller just cut the stack of tissue paper to fit your gift size.
(I know the Holidays are over but this is still great for all gifts)

Yesterday was my husband and my two year anniversary. It's amazing that two years have flown by. I was in charge after I lost a bet we made. I had a wonderful day planned but it could have only happened if it snowed or if there was left over snow. And it didn't.... I had a lame back up plan but it cost money. I was counting on this being my gift to him since it was very time consuming. Plus it is nice to give a gift that I spend a lot of time on and that is creative.

Not to mention my husband is the hardest person to shop for. He has everything that he wants and he doesn't constantly say "oh that's pretty...or oh I like that" like me. So through out the year I am constantly reminding him with out knowing what I like. He never does that and never tells me what he wants. Also he is unemployed at the moment and we have one car so it is extremely hard to give him a surprise. He is always with me.

So that night I was thinking of something that I could do for him. I had a lot of good ideas but nothing that I could do fast. I thought I will be unoriginal and wake up early and make him breakfast (since he is the cook in the family).... Six is plenty early to get up and make breakfast.... My husband was up at five...... making noise. I sat in bed very angry. He is making me something and making me breakfast. Now most of you are probably thinking..... why are you mad your husband is amazing he is making you gifts and breakfast stop whining. Well I sat there and I had nothing for him besides that we were going to Park City that day. I felt terrible and the worse wife in the world. He always does things like this for me. Not only did he make breakfast it was 10 times better than anything else I would have made. He also surprised me with a watch that I need and want. I constantly feel like I don't contribute and do anything for him because by the time I go to do it... it is done.... and done better.
Well I feel bad that I was moody during my breakfast in bed but I wasn't like that the whole day. I enjoyed the wonderful steak dinner he made and the cheesecake from the cheesecake factory. Raspberry citrus cheesecake and chocolate peanut butter, caramel with Oreo crust. delicious but very expensive!

I really need to try and be a better wife and think of things I can do for him because really no matter what he says I feel like I am clueless, spoiled and a failure.

Oh well maybe by 3 years I'll come up with something. For now I will stop complaining and just enjoy it!

I thought these were amazing.... kind of like my husband.

Jonathan Adler has these pretty white porcelain ornaments.
They are not in my price range but they are sure fun to look at.
Maybe after the holidays they will go on sale enough for me to buy them for next season.

Bookshelf fun

So we were going to paint and wallpaper this bookshelf to give it new life. But we decided to change it into a desk/bookshelf and add some lights! Let me tell you how amazing it is to be typing on a desk! I wish I would of had one during school!

First we added a border to make it look more "chunky".

Waited a long time for all sides of the shelves to dry and added wallpaper we found on sale.

Not only did we decide to make the bookshelf a desk and add lights but my husband also decided to add hooks for my purses and hooks for my necklaces. He also made amazing jewelry organizers. They are yet to be stained so I will post on them later.
I love being organized (when it happens in a small condo it is amazing).

Pecan Waffles

This is a really simple recipe but it was so good.
We wanted to try something different than just normal waffles... and we felt like pecans so

We used Krusteaz mix.
add 6 tablespoons of brown sugar
a handful of chopped pecans
per eight 4 inch waffles

Add any fruit that you want on top or just butter and syrup.
So yummy nice change for normal waffles.

Tip: I bought the plastic wrapped hay wreaths. I was going to buy the normal styrofoam wreaths but these hay ones were a dollar!!! instead of 6+ dollars. I was wondering how the plastic and hay was going to react to hot glue but it worked great and stayed together.
PomPoms: Buy different sized pom poms not just one size. It adds wonderful texture!
Feathers: Make sure you glue feathers all going in the same direction it makes it look pretty and not like a messy chicken. And if you don't like the look of feathers spread out than tie a ribbon around it to keep feathers tight against the wreath.
Ribbons: It will probably look better if you by the styrofoam wreaths because you can lay the ribbon flat. It still looks good with the hey though. Also big ribbon is better than small and is much faster and looks great.

DIY- Kitchen

My husband and I are low on cash...... for sure.
But our old kitchen was just not working....
Here is our design on a dime.

Paint that wall. Living in a small apartment makes it hard to have bold colors like that red. Painting it a lighter off white opened up the apartment!!

Replace ugly tile counter top with granite!
Tip: Don't have money to spend? Try to go to construction sites or talk to friends and family that are renovating. Most of the time they have extra granite that is left over from a project for the fraction of the price. Most of the time it is not a solid piece. But when you have a small kitchen it still looks great.

Look at that sink faucet?? It gives the kitchen such a face lift! Tip: Look for display sink faucets.
You can get the same amazing look for so cheap and it was just used a little.

Cabinets are very expensive! Try refacing them. Giving them a new look by making doors. And you don't have to demolish the entire kitchen just unscrew the doors!! And find some one sale hard ware to finish it off.

Love the white brick back splash. I was unsure about going white (seemed boring). But the brick shape and colorful counter tops make it a nice finished look. Putting a back splash in is very easy! Anyone can do it.

Now maybe one day I can get new floors...
